Astronomy Activity

These days, as I move into retirement, I am expanding my visual activity and beginning to experiment with astrophotography. I am currently using a 6" Celestron SCT (my old 8" Meade SCT was stolen from my shed several years ago).

Getting Started

The image above is of Comet Holmes a couple of years ago and was taken with a Nikon D70 piggybacked on the 8" SCT, with a 300mm Tamron lens.

The image above is of the recent Venus transit and was taken with a Nikon D7100 piggybacked on the 6" SCT, with a 70-210mm Tamron zoom lens. Lot's of clouds that day, but still got some nice transit images.

More Recent

I'm currently experimenting with some constellation and deep sky targets with the D7100 in piggyback mode, and have added an Orion unar and planetary eyepiece to try some planetary video capture and stacking.

Once I accumulate some images I will be making them available for viewing on my ZENFOLIO photography site.
